Adam Voke is married to Susie and they have a young daughter and son; Megan and Ben. Adam was brought up in a Christian home and first came to the church through some friends in 1996 after a few years of not walking with God. In September 1997 he left his job in London where he worked in the accounts department of a Magazine advertising company to begin a Newfrontiers Year Project doing youth work with M.F.C. After the year Adam was employed more fully by the church as a youth worker and undertook another three years of training which included theological and pastoral studies with Newfrontiers. During those years he met and married Susie who happened to be the previous pastor John Oldfield’s daughter! Adam became an elder in the beginning of 2002, before taking over leadership of the church later that year.

Julian Perry is married to Lena and has three teenage daughters, Abigail, Rachel and Hannah. Julian became a Christian at university before moving to work with an engineering company in Doha (In the Middle East). Julian was an elder in a church in Doha and it was during this time he met Lena and was married, they later moved to Dartford where they came into contact with John Oldfield and Newfrontiers. The family moved from Dartford to Medway and helped to plant the church in 1992. Julian became and elder at M.F.C. in September 1996. At the moment Julian works in Chatham dockyard with an engineering company (Seeda Management) and is involved in the new development of the dockside and Thames Gateway Project. Julian heads up the worship team as well as being chairman of the trustees. |
Other people who have particular responsibilities and involvement at M.F.C. are:
Pastoral & Community Workers
John and Mollie Oldfield are employed part time as Pastoral and Community Workers. They are involved in helping with the integration of visitors and members in to the church, assisting the elders in pastoral care of the church along with a team of others and in development of work into the local community. John and Mollie are also involved with newfrontiers mission training and helping to oversee work in other nations.
The Administrator & Treasurer
Helen Gallagher is employed part time as an administrator for the church, supporting the elders in their roles and particularly Adam on a week to week basis. Helen is married to Steve who is also the treasurer, looking after the month to month running of the accounts alongside the trustees.
The Trustees
Richard Haydon-Knowell who is now retired but was a church pastor for many years, Chris Norwood who is a deputy-head in a secondary school, Julian Perry (see above) and Sue Jelfs (See below) these people look after the trust and are ultimately responsible for the finances but are also involved in other leadership functions.
Sue Jelfs; who moved into Medway from Southall in 2000, Sue heads up outreach into the Asian community as well as having involvement with other community projects and work. Sue works part time at a local surgery as a nurse and is also supported by ‘Urban Vision’, a group that works into the Asian community.
There are many others who are responsible for leadership of different areas or projects such as small groups and youth and children’s work. We also recognise the vital contribution that every member makes into the life of the church in a multitude of ways. |
